Engineering Requirement

The client required a completely intelligent 3D plant model for HRSG-based combined cycle power plants by converting approved P&IDs into a coordinated, engineering-grade digital model that could support detailed engineering, fabrication, installation, and construction activities. The objective was to create a constructible, clash-free plant model while ensuring seamless coordination across piping, equipment, structural steel, and utility systems.

The project involved developing comprehensive 3D models by leveraging AVEVA E3D for critical plant assets, including Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), gas turbines, pressure vessels, stacks, steam drums, silencers, pumps, heat exchangers, and auxiliary systems. The HRSG combined cycle plant 3D modeling engineering scope also included modeling high-pressure and low-pressure steam piping, feedwater, condensate, flare, vent, drain, blowdown, and utility piping networks, together with structural steel, pipe racks, platforms, and support structures.

A major requirement was to eliminate interdisciplinary clashes before fabrication by performing comprehensive design coordination, constructability reviews, and clash detection across all engineering disciplines. The final deliverable needed to provide a construction-ready digital model that minimized field rework, improved installation planning, and reduced execution risks for large-scale combined cycle power plant projects.
